After a hiatus followed by a last-minute delay, Nicki Minaj’s highly anticipated forthcoming album Pink Friday 2 is finally on the horizon. The project is set to arrive on December 8 via Republic Records. Here’s everything we know about the album so far.
Themes
Minaj revealed some concepts and themes that will be featured on the album during an interview with Vogue. She said, “When I look back at a lot of my music, I’m like, Oh, my God, where was the me in it? So for this album, I went back to the old game plan.”
Singles
Back in September, Minaj shared a single from the project, “Last Time I Saw You,” moving her sound from hard-hitting hip-hop to polished, emotional pop.
Over a glittering, melodic foundation, the rap queen utilizes her beautiful vocals to craft a reflective, yearning track. “I wish I’da hugged you tighter the last time that I saw you,” she sings in the chorus. “I wish I didn’t waste precious time the night when I called you/I wish I remembered to say I’d do anything for you/Maybe I pushed you away ‘cause I thought that I’d bore you.” Check out that track below.
Before announcing the album, Minaj released songs “Super Freaky Girl” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” The artist hasn’t confirmed whether those songs will be featured on the album.
Rumored Tracks
Nicki has been sharing a lot of song snippets and teasers on social media. In October 2023, as part of the second official Pink Friday, a promotional series teasing Minaj’s fifth album, the artist played two versions of “Arctic Tundra,” which is rumored to feature the late Juice WRLD. She said it was one of her favorite tracks she has recorded.
Artists who have been rumored to be included on the record include Beyonce, Rihanna, Billie Eilish, Drake, Lil Wayne, Lauryn Hill, Shakira, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Skeng, Sexyy Red, and Ice Spice. Nicki has yet to confirm or deny any of these collabortions, except songs with Drake and Lil Wayne.
What Has Nicki Been Up To?
Earlier this month, Nicki confirmed that she will be heading out on a global tour in support of Pink Friday 2.
Back in June, the MC And Ice Spice released their wildly-anticipated Barbie soundtrack collaboration, “Barbie World,” reimagining the original “Barbie Girl” by Aqua, which arrived 25 years ago.
In May, Nicki shared the music video for the aforementioned “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” The Queen of Rap took to social media on Mother’s Day (May 14) to officially unveil the island-themed clip, which was filmed in the superstar rapper’s home island of Trinidad and Tobago.
Pink Friday 2 is set for release on December 8, and is available for pre-order.
