Nat King Cole’sFrom The Capitol Vaults (Vol. 5) is out now courtesy of Capitol/UMe. The fifth and final installment in this digital series features a treasure trove of 12 rare tracks from the Capitol Records Archives, two of which are making their digital debut.
Spanning from 1952-1964, From The Capitol Vaults (Vol. 5) collection features hidden gems in Cole’s illustrious catalog, including three alternate takes—“Unfair,” I Got Love,” and “Come to The Mardi Gras”—and the previously unreleased “It’s Not What You Say,” a track from Live from The Sands recorded in 1960.
The From The Capitol Vaults’ five-volume series delves deep into a diverse selection of tracks from Cole’s illustrious catalog, providing fans and aficionados a glimpse into the legendary artist’s unparalleled talent and timeless music.
Although Cole passed away in 1965 at 45, his status as an icon of the swing era, pop, and jazz age is timeless. His sophisticated and distinctive vocals and unparalleled artistry propelled him to the forefront of the jazz and pop music sphere, selling millions and leaving an indelible mark on the world. Few voices in music history have such ageless appeal as Nat King Cole.
Volume 4 of the collection, released in June of 2023, includes 14 rare songs from Cole, many of which have never been previously available on streaming platforms.
The fourth edition of From the Capitol Vaults features tracks from the 50s and 60s, and it includes strong elements of swing and jazz. Among Cole’s performances include the swaying “The Right Thing to Say,” spirited “You Will Never Grow Old,” and playful “The First Baseball Game.”
