K-os Announces Reissue Of 2007 Album ‘Atlantis: Hymns For Disco’

Canadian rapper K-os has announced a physical and digital reissue of his celebrated 2007 album Atlantis: Hymns For Disco. The MC shared the news on his on February 20, his 52nd birthday.

The updated project, titled Atlantis+, will include the original album and bonus tracks not previously available. The updated project will arrive on May 3 in the US courtesy of Astralwerks. Check out the unreleased cut “Invulnerable” below.


Released in Canada on October 10, 2006, the album was released worldwide on February 20, 2007. In the US, it reached number 152 on the Billboard 200 and number five on the Heatseekers chart.

The album reached Platinum status in Canada and featured five singles including “ELEctrik HeaT – the seekwiLL,” “FlyPaper,” “Born To Run,” “The Equalizer,” and “Sunday Morning.” The latter has been certified Gold in Canada.

The reissue of Atlantis+ will be available digitally and as a 2LP Gatefold pressed on “Atlantis” Blue Vinyl.

Upon initial release of the album in 2007, K-os shared his mission statement for the album on his website. It read: “I’m trying to be unapologetic about the rules I break…most revolutionary art ends up provoking classic ideals and it is these same classic ideals that become prisons if they go unchallenged.”

K-os (“chaos”) is the stage name for Canadian alternative rapper, singer, songwriter and producer Kevin Brereton.

The artist’s debut album, Exit, released in 2002, received positive reviews and critical acclaim. In 2003, k-os collaborated with The Chemical Brothers on their single “Get Yourself High” that was nominated for “Best Dance Recording” at the 2005 Grammy Awards.

His second album Joyful Rebellion, released in 2004, reached Platinum in Canada and featured a total of six singles including the international hit “Crabbuckit,” which won “Best Pop Video” at the annual MuchMusic Video Awards along with “Best Songwriter” and “Fan Choice Award” at the 2005 Canadian Urban Music Awards.

K-os followed this with the release of Yes! (2009), Black on Blonde (2013), and Can’t Fly Without Gravity, (2015). Additionally, the MC is planning a new studio album to be released later this year

From 1996 to 2016, K-os was the third best-selling Canadian hip hop artist in Canada (behind Drake and Swollen Members).
