Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ Joins Spotify Billions Club

Bob Marley’s classic “Three Little Birds” has joined Spotify’s Billions Club. This is Marley’s first track to reach the landmark.

“Three Little Birds,” is a study of beautiful, simple optimism. The song comes from Marley’s Exodus, which is one of the most influential records of all time. Released on June 3, 1977, the record includes not only “Three Little Birds,” but also beloved hits like “Jamming” and “One Love/People Get Ready.” Time magazine has called Exodus “the best album of the 20th century.” The making of the record plays a large part in the BET Award-winning film One Love, which was released earlier this year in theaters.

To celebrate the release of the film, the Marley estate has put out a limited edition version of Exodus. Released on June 7, it features the original cover design of the album (as seen in the film). It also includes an exclusive 10″ LP of rare bonus tracks, and an essay by Jamaican historian Herbie Miller.

In other Marley news, a visualizer to the influential tune “Punky Reggae Party” was released last month. Also hitting YouTube was the official release of “Turn Your Lights Down Low,” featuring Lauryn Hill. The Hill version of “Turn Your Lights Down Low” first appeared on the compilation Chant Down Babylon, which collected remixes and covers of Marley’s essential songs performed by major artists of the time including Rakim, The Roots, MC Lyte, and more. The newly released video features Marley’s son, Rohan.
