Listen To Magnolia Park’s Reimagined ‘I2I’ From Disney’s ‘A Whole New Sound’ Will Schube

Disney has unveiled the second single from their upcoming album A Whole New Sound. Magnolia Park have shared their take on “I2I,” originally performed by Tevin Campbell (as the fictional rock star “Powerline”) in the 1995 film A Goofy Movie. This reimagining injects modern pop-punk energy into the classic Disney tune.

“‘I2I’ is a huge part of black history and inspired all of us as kids to make music. The message of the song of all of us coming together is something we all stand by,” said Magnolia Park.

On A Whole New Sound, Mickey Mouse and his Friends have curated a unique album experience. Working with their favorite alternative, rock, and pop-punk artists, they present fresh takes on classic Disney songs. The full album and vinyl will be released later in the year.

“It was important to me to have some up-and-coming bands on the album since part of the fun of the legendary Punk Goes Pop series in the early 2000s was discovering new bands,” said Tim Pennoyer, director, Brand Marketing, The Walt Disney Company. “After the release of the first single from A Whole New Sound, ‘I2I’ was the most requested Disney song by fans on social media to be covered next.”

The project’s first single, Simple Plan’s rendition of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” is available now on all streaming platforms.

The band recorded the track in honor of The Lion King’s 30th anniversary. Regarding their version of “Can You Feel,” Simple Plan said: “We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”

On August 9, 2024, Simple Plan will take the stage at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa to perform their version of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” for Disney’s most devoted fans as part of the expansive and immersive event.
