Disney’s ‘A Whole New Sound’ Reveals Tracklist, Release Date

A Whole New Sound, the forthcoming compilation album of classic Disney classics reimagined by some of pop-punks biggest names, has an official tracklist and release date.

The record, which will arrive in both digital and vinyl formats, lands on September 6th. Featured artists include Boys Like Girls, Plain White T’s, Bowling For Soup, We the Kings, and Tokio Hotel, performing songs from Tarzan, Encanto, Aladdin, Hercules, Pocahontas, Coco, and more. The first singles from the record, Simple Plan’s cover of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” from The Lion King and Magnolia Park’s rendition of “I2I” from A Goofy Movie, are available for streaming now.

The album’s third single, available today, is a rendition of “Part of Your World” performed by New Found Glory. The track, originally from The Little Mermaid, finds the seabound mermaid Ariel yearning to go “up where they run,” walking among humans.

“In approaching this song, I sat with the lyrics and melodies for a while. I realized that to make people feel what Ariel’s feeling, we needed to match the energy of the music with the rebellious thoughts of the song, along with her hope for adventure,” New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert said. “When she sings about wanting to dance, the music is upbeat and fun, but when she expresses herlonging for freedom, the rhythm drops so you really feel the pull of the heart,” Gilbert continued: “Our band’s biggest goal has always been to show and encourage young adults, the young at heart, and any person that has a dream but faces self-doubt that there is another world out there that will accept them for exactly who they are. To not be afraid to take the next step.”

Listen to New Found Glory’s “Part of Your World” now.
