50 Cent’s ‘Candy Shop’ Joins Spotify Billions Club

50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” is the latest track to join the Spotify Billions Club.

Released in 2005, “Candy Shop” was a massive hit for the rapper, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming his third No. 1 single. The innuendo-filled track was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 2006 Grammy Awards.

Last year, 50 Cent’s 2003 track “In Da Club” achieved the billion steam milestone. Back in 2020, the song’s award-winning video hit one billion views on YouTube. “In Da Club” appeared on the rapper’s debut studio album, 2003’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’. 50 Cent’s breakout record also featured the No. 1 hit “21 Questions” and the top 5 track “P.I.M.P.” Featuring production from Dr. Dre and Eminem, the album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and has since been certified 9x platinum by the RIAA.

Two years later, 50 Cent released a followup album, The Massacre, which included tracks like “Disco Inferno,” “Just a Lil Bit,” and “Candy Shop.” The latter track was produced by Scott Storch and features vocals from the R&B singer Olivia.

More recently, 50 Cent has stayed busy with a variety of projects. Power, the Starz series he executive produced, lives on through spinoffs like Ghost, Raising Kanan, and Force, each recently renewed for additional seasons. Another 50 Cent-produced Starz series, BMF, recently aired its third season.

The rapper, born Curtis Jackson, recently published a novel. The Accomplice, which was written with the acclaimed mystery writer Aaron Philip Clark, follows a Black female Texas ranger as she tracks down a dangerous thief.
