Brenda Lee’s classic hit “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” has been released in Spanish for the first time as “Noche Buena y Navidad.”

The new version arrives thanks in part to a responsibility-trained AI technology. The vocal model from SoundLabs, which was founded by the electronic artist BT, was fully approved by Lee. Four-time Latin Grammy-winning producer Auero Baqueiro and LA-based, Chilean born vocalist Leyla Hoyle also worked on the song—Hoyle re-recorded Lee’s original vocals in Spanish, capturing her bespoke vocal quirks.

“I am so blown away by this new Spanish version of ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,’ which was created with the help of AI,” Lee shared in a statement. “Throughout my career, I performed and recorded many songs in different languages, but I never recorded ‘Rockin’ in Spanish, which I would have loved to do. To have this out now is pretty incredible and I’m happy to introduce the song to fans in a new way.”

First recorded 66 years ago when Brenda Lee was just 13 years old, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” has grown into a holiday classic, certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA and boasting 1 billion streams on Spotify. In 2023, it also spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Today, Lee has sold over 100 million albums globally and currently holds the record for longest gap between an artist’s first and most recent No 1.—she earned her first in 1960 with the track “I’m Sorry.” She was the first woman inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Country Music Hall of Fames and she is a recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award.
