Betty Carter’s Out There and Bill Henderson’s With The Oscar Peterson Trio are set to be reissued on vinyl as part of Verve Records’ celebrated Verve By Request series.

Both albums are set to be released on February 14, and Carter’s Out There will be released on black vinyl and in a special yellow edition as well.

Originally released through Peacock Records in 1958 after her stint with the Lionel Hampton’s band, Out There is a snapshot and early gem in Betty Carter’s broad career. Supported by a cast including Benny Golson (Tenor Saxophone), Wynton Kelly (Piano), and Kenny Dorham (Trumpet) among others, Carter moves through standards such as “Something Wonderful” as well as her first ever recorded original, “I Can’t Help It,” which would go on to become a performance staple. Verve By Request Series features 180-gram vinyl, pressed at Third Man in Detroit.

Bill Henderson may not have been a household name among jazz singers, but With The Oscar Peterson Trio from 1963 should have put him front and center. For this record, Henderson was joined by the Oscar Peterson Trio, which included Ed Thigpen on drums and Ray Brown on bass.

Henderson matches the group’s ability and elevates classics like “All or Nothing At All” and “You Are My Sunshine” with his own point of view. Verve By Request Series features 180-gram vinyl, pressed at Third Man in Detroit.
