James Bay and Jon Batiste Release New Single ‘Sunshine In The Room’

For the first time, James Bay and Jon Batiste have teamed up on a new song. The two award-winning talents join forces on the upbeat new single “Sunshine In The Room,” out now. The track finds the two artists trading vocals, building to the refrain, “You burn so bright. You’re like sunshine in the room.” All the while, the music carries a positive energy in line with the lyrics.

Bay, the BRIT Award-winning multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Brighton, UK, has found an ideal creative partner in New Orleans native Batiste. The multi-hyphenate and former Late Show with Stephen Colbert bandleader has a wealth of honors to his name including an Emmy, an Oscar, and five Grammys, among them an Album Of The Year win for We Are in 2022.

“Working with Jon Batiste for ‘Sunshine In The Room’ is an experience I will never ever forget,” Bay said. “He literally burst into the studio like a ray of sunshine and brought so much joy to the sound of the record and the work. He’s a total inspiration, and I hope we can work together again. The song is about having someone in your life who truly lights up the room as soon as they walk in.”

Batiste offered his own comments on the collab. “James is such a beautiful soul and a great musician,” he said. “Grateful to make a new friend and create music together. Really excited for the world to hear this song, it impossible to not love the vibes on this one!”

This spring Bay will launch his first full-scale U.S. tour since 2023. The Up All Night Tour begins April 21 in Minneapolis at First Avenue and carries on through May 28 at Montreal’s MTELUS. The tour is named for “Up All Night,” Bay’s 2024 collaboration with the Lumineers and Noah Kahan, which became Bay’s first American chart-topping hit by reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay chart.
