Brenda Lee’s early-career hits collection Love You! is coming to streaming as a digital deluxe album, just in time for Valentines Day.
Long out-of-print, the 32-track album features 20 songs making their streaming debuts, all of which Lee recorded for Decca between 1956 and 1962. The compilation was first released in 1963 by Ace Of Hearts, Decca’s imprint focus on releasing back-catalog music from the US. It combines the A and B-sides of non-album singles released in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s.
The songs that appear on the record include “Dynamite,” which Lee released at just 12 years old shortly after signing her Decca deal, and popular rockabilly tracks like Ring-A-My Phone,” “Rock-A-Bye Baby Blues,” “Rock The Bop,” “I’m Learning About Love,” “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home” and “One Teenager To Another.”
Among the 20 songs debuting on streaming are two key covers from Lee’s early career: a rendition of Hank Williams’ “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and Lee’s take on the Ink Spots’ “If I Didn’t Care.” There are also a variety of “alternate,” “first” and “second” versions of tracks like “Bigelow 6-200” and “Jambalaya.”
In the early years of her career, Lee—sometimes known as “Little Miss Dynamite”—had nine consecutive top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits from 1960 to 1962, setting a record for a female solo artist that was unequaled until over two decades later. Her most enduring hit, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” was honored by Spotify and the RIAA with a plaque presentation in December 2024—in 2023, the track became a No. 1 hit 65 years after its release, setting multiple records and becoming only the third holiday No. 1 in history.
