STYX and Kevin Cronin Band Plot Brotherhood of Rock Tour

The Brotherhood of Rock Tour will bring two of classic rock best’s Vegas residencies to amphitheaters and arenas across America this summer. STYX and the Kevin Cronin Band, led by former REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin, will rekindle their longtime partnership with 40 dates including full-album performances of STYX’s 1977 blockbuster The Grand Illusion and REO Speedwagon’s 1980 smash Hi Infidelity. Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder will open all shows.

STYX and Cronin announced the tour with a trailer in which Cronin and STYX’s Tommy Shaw switch bodies, Freaky Friday-style. The trek kicks off May 28 in Greenville, S.C. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena and concludes Aug. 24 at Milwaukee’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater. This venture comes on the heels of residencies where both STYX and Kevin Cronin Band (then performing under the REO Speedwagon name) played these albums and other hits for sold-out crowds at Vegas’s Venetian Theatre.

The Brotherhood of Rock Tour marks STYX’s first time performing The Grand Illusion in full on tour since 2010. The triple-Platinum LP features some of STYX’s best-loved hits, including “Come Sail Away” and “Fooling Yourself.” Hi Infidelity, which is Diamond-certified with 10 million copies sold in the U.S., was the biggest-selling album of 1981 and boasts the No. 1 hit “Keep on Loving You” as well as the top-five hit “Take It on the Run,” both of which will be part of Cronin’s show along with other REO hits like “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Time for me to Fly,” and “Roll with the Changes.” Felder’s set each night will include the iconic Eagles track “Hotel California,” which he co-wrote.

STYX and REO Speedwagon previously toured together in 2000 and 2001, at which time they came together to form the 501(c)3 nonprofit Rock to the Rescue. The organization still collects funds for local charities at every STYX tour stop.
