A 50th anniversary tribute concert for the Ramones’ 1976 debut album will be held Aug. 30 at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. The show will feature the Cretin Family, a new supergroup with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, former Ramones bassist CJ Ramone and Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. “The Ramones are the blueprint,” Barker said. “Punk rock wouldn’t be what it is today without them. I’m honored to celebrate 50 years of one of the greatest bands ever!!!” Actor John Travolta will host the night, which will include a double feature screening of the 1976 horror classic Carrie and Travolta’s directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach. Artist Shepard Fairey will DJ. Tickets are on sale now. The Ramones album, released April 23, 1976, includes the punk anthem “Blitzkrieg Bop.” A 50th anniversary picture disc vinyl will be released July 17.
