‘A Goofy Movie’ Celebrates Anniversary With New Vinyl Compilation

To celebrate A Goofy Movie’s 30th anniversary this year, Disney is releasing a new vinyl compilation gathering songs from the soundtrack.

Due out on April 9th, the record features 13 songs total, including Tevin Campbell’s “Stand Up” and “l2l.” (In the film, Tevin Campbell voices the fictional pop star Powerline.) The collectors-edition vinyl also comes with a special sticker sheet featuring characters like Max, Bobby, PJ and (of course) Goofy himself.

Released in 1995, A Goofy Movie follows Goofy and his son, Max, as they navigate a cross-country fishing trip full of antics. (They visit a possum-themed amusement park, take their car down the Colorado River, and encounter Bigfoot, among other things.) Directed by Kevin Lima, the film was a modest success when it premiered, only grossing $37.6 million at the box office. But upon its release to home video, the film developed a cult following that still endures today, and spawned a popular 2000 sequel, An Extremely Goofy Movie.

The score for the film was largely composed by Carter Burwell—known for his long working relationship with the Coen Brothers—with assists by Don Davis. In addition to Tevin Campbell’s contributions, Bill Farmer (Goofy) and Jason Marsden (Max) are also credited. Aaron Lohr provided the singing voice for Max, performing on tracks like “On The Open Road” and “Nobody Else But You.”
