The legendary Abbey Road Studios has announced a new experience for visitors: Stories in Sound. Launching in August 2024, Stories in Sound is being billed as an immersive experience combining “rich storytelling with live music. For the first time, music fans can hear the incredible story of Abbey Road and its role in music history, alongside live performances of the music created within our walls.” The experience will be held on August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
Stories In Sound will take place in Studio Two, home to countless landmark recordings by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Shirley Bassey, The Hollies, Elton John, Ella Fitzgerald, Kate Bush, Massive Attack, Oasis, Radiohead, Muse, Adele, Celeste, Stormzy, Ed Sheeran and many more. Ticket buyers will have the rare chance to take photos inside Studio Two during their visit.
Led by music experts Kevin Ryan & Brian Kehew, the experience will be brought to life through storytelling, imagery and performances. A live string quartet, guitarist & pianist will play iconic pieces of music in the very room where they were recorded.
Abbey Road Studios shares, “from the patenting of stereo to the invention of numerous recording techniques used across the globe today, the Abbey Road story will be told by Kevin Ryan & Brian Kehew – producers, musicians and authors of Recording The Beatles; the definitive book charting the studio equipment and techniques used to create The Beatles’ classic albums. During their research, Kevin and Brian dug deep into the EMI Archives, uncovering fascinating and often hidden stories of our history which will be brought to life through their talks.”
The event will run across August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at various times. In-person tickets are available now.
For those unable to attend, Abbey Road Studios will be hosting an online event on Saturday, August 10th, promising behind-the-scenes content unavailable at the live event. Online views can still enjoy “unique glimpses into our spaces and gear, live musical performances, and appearances by special guests yet to be announced, all designed to bring the Abbey Road experience directly to you.”
