Abbey Road’s Studio Two Hosting Intimate Holiday Concerts

London’s legendary Abbey Road recording studio will host a series of intimate holiday concerts this winter. Lit up by fairylight, the studio’s Christmas Quartet will play six shows across two days, performing classic carols and music from beloved Christmas movies. A selection of warm drinks will be served at the shows, which begin at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. on Dec. 21 and 22 in Studio Two. Tickets are available now via See Tickets.

The holiday shows will take place in the same room where many iconic figures have captured some of their finest work. The family-friendly events will allow those in attendance a rare opportunity to explore Abbey Road’s most famous recording space and peruse its extensive collection of gear.

Studio Two has played host to sessions from some of music’s biggest stars, including the Beatles. Others who’ve laid down classic tracks in Studio Two include Shirley Bassey, Little Richard, Kate Bush, Elton John, Massive Attack, Oasis, and Adele, among many others. Recent projects recorded in the space include Little Simz’s Mercury Prize-winning Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and a pair of albums by Radiohead offshoot The Smile, Wall Of Eyes and Cutouts. Others to log sessions there lately include Stormzy, Ezra Collective, Morgan Wallen, Sam Smith, Idles, and more.

Billed as the world’s first recording studio, Abbey Road opened its doors in 1931 when the Gramophone Company sought to establish a location to pursue the then-new discipline of electric audio recording. A nine-bedroom house in Northwest London was transformed into a state-of-the-art facility that continues to build upon its mythic stature nearly a century later.
