Aerosmith is set to release a Legendary Edition of their debut album on March 20, through Capitol Records and UMe. Co-founders Steven Tyler and Joe Perry revisited the original recordings, working with GRAMMY-nominated producer Zakk Cervini and GRAMMY-winning producer Steve Berkowitz to create a fresh mix.
This special 5-LP box set features the original album remastered on 180-gram clear vinyl. The new 2024 mix is pressed on 180-gram translucent red vinyl. Fans will also find a live show from Paul’s Mall in 1973 on 180-gram black vinyl, along with never-before-heard studio tracks. A 12-inch single includes two versions of the classic “Dream On.”
The box set comes with a hardback book filled with unseen photos by Ross Halfin. Author Rick Florino wrote the liner notes, sharing the band’s story through new interviews with all five original members. The box unfolds into a cool 3D pop-up display.
Aerosmith released their first album on January 5, 1973. Tyler, Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer recorded it at Intermedia Studios in Boston, featuring tracks like “Dream On.” The band toured for two years before “Dream On” finally gained traction in late 1975, reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 and helping the album achieve 2x Platinum status.
Aerosmith is one of only four American rock bands to sell over 90 million albums. Their catalog includes 30 albums on the Billboard Top 200 and 28 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. “Dream On” has over 5 billion streams and is in the GRAMMY Hall of Fame.
To give fans a taste of the new version, the band shared a preview. Two fanpacks will be available, including one with the 5-LP set and a satin bomber jacket.
