Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ Features In New Fortnite Trailer

Aerosmith’s 1998 track “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” appears in the latest trailer for Fortnite.

The trailer is promoting the launch of Fortnite OG Season 3 on March 25. In the YouTube description, the company explains that gamers are going to be able to “go back to the moment that started it all” and promising “the meteor is back, along with Lucky Landing, a loaded loot pool, and a new OG Pass.”

Fortnite, of course, has long ties with musicians. Late last year, the game set collaborations with Ice Spice, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem, who had previously led their virtual “Big Bang” concert event in 2023. Before that, Fortnite had collaborated with Travis Scott and J Balvin, and landed a major event when it teamed with Ariana Grande in 2021, when she “performed” songs like “7 Rings,” “Positions,” and “The Way” in the game.

Written by 16-time Oscar nominee Diane Warren, “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” was notably included in the soundtrack for the 1998 disaster film Armageddon, starring Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler’s daughter Liv Tyler. The track was a huge smash, not only topping the Billboard Hot 100—becoming the Boston band’s first chart-topping single in a decades-long career—but also receiving a nomination for Best Original Song at the 71st Academy Awards. Though Warren initially imagined the song sung by a woman like Celine Dion, the track is impossible now to separate from Aerosmith. “It’s so much cooler to hear someone like Steven Tyler – this gruff, macho rock star, this amazing tough guy… it just brought a whole other dimension to it,” Warren told Shortlist in 2016.
