Aimee Mann had a close call when she nearly declined the opportunity to perform with Rush during their Fifty Something tour.

Aimee Mann almost turned down the chance to perform with Rush on their Fifty Something tour. The band kicked off their first American tour in 11 years at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on June 7, 2026. Mann joined Rush for a special performance of “Time Stand Still,” a song from their 1987 album, Hold Your Fire.

In an Instagram post, Mann shared that she was hesitant to accept the invitation. She explained that she received an email from Geddy Lee back in March but was in a tough place mentally and couldn’t imagine performing. She worried she would regret not trying, so she eventually agreed to join the band.

Mann described her experience with Rush as warm and welcoming. She felt supported by their music and the fans. In her post, she illustrated her thoughts about the performance, including her anxiety about the size of the Kia Forum and her initial plan to apologize for being nervous. She also shared drawings of Geddy Lee welcoming her and the two of them performing together on stage.

The Rush Fifty Something tour will continue with two nights in Mexico City this Thursday and Saturday. For a full list of tour dates, fans can visit Rush.com.
