2004 was a big year for Akon: his single “Locked Up” reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and his debut album Trouble was released. To celebrate 20 years of Trouble, UMe is releasing a digital deluxe of the record along with limited edition and expanded vinyl. Both the digital deluxe album and the vinyl editions will be available on August 16th.

The digital deluxe will feature new-to-streaming tracks like “Locked Up (Remix)” featuring Styles P & Taz, “Locked Up (Remix)” featuring Azad, “Locked Up (Remix)” featuring Booba and “Ghetto (Remix).”

Trouble sold 25,000 copies in the first week. It peaked at No. 1 on the UK Album Chart and was later certified Platinum by the RIAA in the United States. Five singles were released from the album, including “Locked Up,” the mega-hit “Lonely,” which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 20 weeks on the chart, “Ghetto,” “Belly Dancer (Bananza)” and “Pot of Gold.”

Last year, Akon shared the soundtrack of his life with NME, and cited “Lonely” as the song that makes him cry. “I was extremely lonely when I wrote it – true story. At the time, the only person who had my back was no longer there for me because of mishaps and decisions of my own. But for me, writing a song like this is a form of therapy. Once I get it out, I feel so much better. I feel even better again when I see other people can relate to it too.”
