Alice in Chains Prepares 30th Anniversary Reissue of Self-Titled Album

When it comes to grunge music, there isn’t a clear “big four” like in thrash metal, but a few bands stand out. One of those is Alice in Chains. Formed in Seattle in 1987, the band brought together vocalist Layne Staley, guitarist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, and bassist Mike Starr. Together, they created some of the most iconic rock songs of the grunge era.

Today, Alice in Chains is still active, making new music and touring. After Layne Staley’s passing in 2002, William DuVall joined the band in 2006 and has been a part of it ever since. Now, they are celebrating their history with a deluxe reissue of their self-titled album from 1995, which turns 30 this year.

This special reissue includes the original album on two vinyl LPs, three 7-inch singles, posters, art prints, and a hardcover book, among other collectibles. It’s available for preorder and will ship in 2026. The self-titled album is certified double-Platinum by the RIAA and features hits like “Grind,” “Heaven Beside You,” and “Again.” This was the last album with Staley, making it a significant release for fans.

The deluxe box set is limited to 3,000 units and can only be purchased through the official artist store, with a maximum of two units per order. Any extra orders will be canceled and refunded.

Alice in Chains’ latest studio album, “Rainier Fog,” was released in 2018. It marked a return to their classic sound, reminiscent of their early ’90s roots when they rose to fame alongside other Pacific Northwest bands.
