Amy Lee’s voice is taking on a new role in the upcoming short film, The Seventh Turn. The Evanescence frontwoman’s vocals have been transformed into a unique score for the film. Composer Michael Wandmacher has created a “biological synthesizer” using Lee’s voice to generate sounds like bells, keys, percussion, and strings, all without using traditional instruments or technology.
Wandmacher shared his vision, saying he wanted to create a full score using only voices, not just for choral parts but to replace instruments entirely. Lee expressed her excitement about the project, noting how inspiring it is to work within such creative boundaries. She mentioned that everything in the score comes from a voice, making it a fun challenge for her as a vocalist.
Fans can get a sneak peek of this innovative sound in the teaser for The Seventh Turn, which will premiere on July 1 on the streaming platform Kinema. Meanwhile, Lee is on tour with Evanescence, promoting their new album, Sanctuary.
