Andrew Lloyd Webber has released a special edition of “Any Dream Will Do” from his iconic musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This version of the song is performed by Jason Donovan, the original star of the musical, combined with a recording featuring the former cast of the show and the Music in Secondary Schools (MiSST) Choir.

When the musical was staged at the London Palladium in 1991, “Any Dream Will Do” was released as a single with Donovan on vocals. The song went on to top the UK Singles Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI for selling over 400,000 copies. Donovan went on to be nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 1992, for his role as Joseph.

Donovan is part of the UK tour of the London Palladium’s current production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, taking on a different starring role: The Pharaoh. He also donned the technicolor dreamcoat again for his performance at the Platinum Party in the Palace, a concert that celebrated Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th year on the throne, on June 4th. Webber himself was also part of the celebration.

That wasn’t the first time Donovan has performed “Any Dream Will Do” years after retiring from the role as Joseph. He also joined Josh Groban, Donny Osmond, Andrea Bocelli, and others for a special medley for the 2007 Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium.

In addition to sharing this latest recording of the standout Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat song, Webber also released a brand new cast recording of the title track from The Phantom of the Opera. It marked the first time in 18 years that a new cast recording from the iconic musical had been released.
