Anthrax hit the stage at Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on March 23, followed by a show in Adelaide on March 25. They are set to wrap up their Australian tour with performances in Melbourne and Sydney. The band delivered a powerful 90-minute set, showcasing tracks from their 45-year career. They kicked off with “A.I.R” and closed with a surprise finale.
Vocalist Joey Belladonna and guitarists Scott Ian and Jon Donais powered through 14 songs, including fan favorites like “,” “,” and “.” Scott Ian also shared exciting news: the band will release a new album later this year, with an announcement expected in May. They plan to return to Australia in 2027 when the new record drops.
New Zealand band Alien Weaponry opened the show, energizing the crowd with songs from their upcoming album, Te Rā, set to release in 2025. Drummer Henry De Jong started their set with a Haka, setting the tone for an electrifying performance. They played several songs in Māori, including “,” “,” and “.”
Scott Ian engaged the audience, asking, “Do you love Thrash Metal?” The crowd roared in response. Fans eagerly requested “I’m The Man,” and the band delivered, with Scott Ian noting they hadn’t played it in years. He promised to learn the full version for their next tour.
This marks the first Australian tour for both bands since Download Australia in 2019. Alien Weaponry last performed in Australia that same year and also played at New Zealand’s Froth & Fury Festival in 2023.
Anthrax’s latest album, For All Kings, was released in 2016, and fans enjoyed songs from that record along with classics dating back to 1984’s Metal Thrashing Mad.
Tickets may still be available for the final two shows. Fans can check online for details and other upcoming shows.
