Anthrax is set to break their silence with new music in early 2026. This upcoming release will follow their 2016 album, *For All Kings*, which received great reviews and built on the success of their 2011 comeback, *Worship Music*. In a recent interview, bassist Frank Bello shared, “It’s been almost 10 years since the last Anthrax record, which is insane. We all are very, very hungry because we’re in mixing right now.”
The band worked on the album while separated by distance, and the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays in recording. Drummer Charlie Benante sent tracks from his studio in Chicago to guitarist Scott Ian in Los Angeles and Bello in New York. After exchanging files online, they came together to finalize the songs. They have recorded nearly 14 tracks for the new album.
Benante mentioned that three of the songs are different from their previous work. One track, titled “The Edge Of Perfection,” has been with him since before the pandemic. He described it as having a strong melody, chords, and aggression. In July 2024, vocalist Joey Belladonna added the finishing touches to his parts. The album is produced by Jay Ruston, who also worked on their last two records.
Since their formation in 1981, Anthrax has released 11 albums and won six GRAMMY awards. They have performed at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden. This new record will highlight their musical growth as they approach their 45th anniversary in 2026. Fans can check out next year’s tour schedule, with tickets going on sale on October 31. While side projects may arise, the band’s main focus is clear: bringing new music to fans around the world.
