ANTHRAX Unveils New Music During Canadian Tour Following Decade-Long Album Hiatus

Anthrax has been teasing fans with a snippet of a new song during their Canadian tour with Megadeth and Exodus. Videos from their shows in Edmonton on February 21 and Saskatoon on February 24 have surfaced online. The New York thrash metal band is set to release their new studio album in May. Megaforce will handle the North American release, while Nuclear Blast will take care of Europe. This will be their first album in ten years, following “For All Kings,” which came out in 2016.

Bassist Frank Bello revealed the May release date in an interview, saying, “The record will come out in May. I’m very proud. It’s so heavy.” He also mentioned that some parts of the album are challenging to play, which he enjoys. He praised lead singer Joey Belladonna, saying, “I don’t understand how the guy could sing like that, but he still is killing it. And I’m very psyched.”

The band recorded and mixed the album at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California, with producer Jay Ruston, who has worked with Anthrax on their last two albums. Frank Bello expressed confidence that fans will love the new music, saying, “If you like the last two records, I think everybody’s gonna be happy. It’s been a while, so thank you for waiting. We made sure it’s worthwhile.”

In December, the band filmed a music video for the first single. Anthrax was founded by Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker in Queens, New York, on July 18, 1981. They have released 11 studio albums and received six GRAMMY nominations over the years. The Canadian tour will wrap up with shows in London, Ottawa, Halifax, Moncton, and Quebec City in early March.
