As It Is Drop Double Single Ahead of Slam Drunk Appearance — And They’re a Pair of Anthems

As It Is — Patty Walters, Ronald Ish, and Alistair Testo — have shared a double single ahead of their appearance at the Slam Dunk Festival in their home base of the UK.

The double single features “ILY, HOW ARE YOU?” and “IDC, I CAN’T TAKE IT.”

These songs boast a “call and response” vibe. The band wrote the tracks back-to-back, and each is delivered from the opposite perspective.

As It Is explain, “One is ‘I care a lot’ and and the other is ‘I could care less,’ with the takeaway being that you wake up and put all your energy into the people, places and things that matter, as a friendly reminder that nothing else matters.”
“ILY, HOW ARE YOU?” is a ‘check in’ anthem,” the band furthers. “It’s for everybody waking up and going through your day telling everybody you’re great — when you’re not. It’s still okay not to be okay. Check in on your friends.”

The band continues “”IDC, I CAN’T TAKE IT” is a ‘Fuck You’ party anthem. It’s for everybody going out of their way and caring the most but not getting the same in return. Some people won’t appreciate your presence until they feel the weight of your absence and that’s okay. Don’t let anyone take your peace. Let go, move on, and put yourself out of your own misery. It’s liberating.

The band previously dropped the video for “I Lie to Me,” a super catchy, pop punk bop. Watch it here.

In the spring, As It Is released the video for “IDGAF,” an anthem that invites plenty of singing along. The song also served as a unifying, emotional, and inspired battle cry for the past year and the times we’ve all been living in during the lockdown and pandemic. Watch the “IDGAF” video here.

As It Is continue to work on music for their upcoming fourth effort.

As It Is released their third studio album The Great Depression in 2018. The band delved into brave new territory conceptually and also took a sonic leap forward. The Great Depression, produced by MACHINE (Lamb of God, Every Time I Die), is a layered and technically accomplished record. As It Is also reimagined the entire album and released the songs as a series of four EPs in 2019.

“We started writing the next chapter of As It Is in 2019,” the band shares. “We had written a lot of cool songs but none of them were telling our story or communicating how we were actually feeling. When ‘IDGAF’ happened, it was the first thing that incapsulated the heartbreak, defeat, and disappointment we were feeling with ourselves and the world around us. When the pandemic happened and the world shut down, that’s when we really spiraled. We’re unwell and we have been. ‘IDGAF’ is all in the title. It’s for all of us and it’s yours now.”
