Ben Folds announced a deluxe reissue of Ben Folds Five’s 1995 debut album for its 30th anniversary. The package arrives Sept. 4. It includes a remastered version of the original record plus a collection of early demos and outtakes called Shelved First Attempt. You can already hear the Shelved First Attempt take on “Underground.”
In the reissue’s liner notes, Folds writes, “Here’s my 59-year-old self’s take on the album we made when I was 28: Overall, it’s good! It’s NOT the kind of record you’d hear produced these days. It’s pretty rough and tumble, mostly in a good way. And it’s emphatically unique.”
The original band—Ben Folds, bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee—will also reunite for live shows. This is their first run of concerts in 13 years. Dates and full details have not been announced yet.
