Billy Idol is already following up his 2021 EP The Roadside with a new EP, The Cage, next month. The EP’s lead single “Cage” is out now along with a video.

The Cage comes out September 23 and is available for pre-order in a variety of formats here. Meanwhile, “The Cage” can be heard in the video below and is streaming on all major digital platforms.

As with The RoadsideThe Cage is being released by Dark Horse Records, the record label started by George Harrison and brought back by his son, Dhani. In a statement to Variety, Dhani said, “My dad was a Billy Idol fan. One time we were watching ‘Beavis and Butt-head’ and they played ‘Dancing with Myself,’ and I remember my dad loving Billy and Beavis and Butt-Head.”

On top of the new EP, Idol has a documentary about his wild life in the works based on his 2015 memoir Dancing With Myself. The documentary is being helmed by Jonas Akerlund, who has won three Grammy Awards for his work on music films and video.

Akerlund said to Variety, “I told Billy, ‘This is a film… We need to tell this story.’ What incredible timing Billy has had in his career. He was there when punk-rock happened in London, then moved to New York just as MTV was exploding, and now he’s in Los Angeles. I personally love his story, the incredible events in his life. And the music has touched so many people.”

There is currently no release timeline for the Idol documentary.
