Scott Ian is opening up about a grueling physical ordeal that left him performing at a fraction of his usual capacity. In a new interview with Metal Injection, the Anthrax guitarist revealed he suffered a severe back injury during the band’s set on the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, which sailed from Miami to Nassau between January 29 and February 2, 2026.

The injury was triggered by the "brutal" environmental conditions during the band's outdoor performance on the ship's Pool Deck Stage. Ian explained that the combination of high winds and freezing temperatures caused his muscles to seize up while on stage. By the next day, the guitarist described the pain as "debilitating," requiring him to seek immediate medical attention on the vessel. Despite the injury, Ian pushed forward to complete the band's subsequent tour dates in Canada, admitting that he was "maybe 40%" at his best while struggling to move.

Ian credited the medical staff for helping him manage the inflammation through a series of treatments and injections. While the recovery process forced him to temper his legendary high-energy stage presence, the thrash icon is now focused on physical therapy to ensure he is fully recovered for Anthrax's upcoming Australian tour and the final mixing of their long-awaited new studio album, tentatively due in May 2026.

Tom Morello is stepping into a new role as a filmmaker to honor the legacy of heavy metal pioneers Judas Priest. Co-directed by Morello and acclaimed documentary filmmaker Sam Dunn, the new film, titled The Ballad of Judas Priest, recently celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in February.

In a recent interview, the Rage Against the Machine guitarist shared that his involvement in the project was driven purely by his "love" for the band and a desire to help chronicle their 50-year journey. Morello highlighted the unique sense of community at Judas Priest shows, noting that the band’s presence has always made him feel part of a collective "metal community" rather than just a spectator. He also touched on the band's cultural significance, pointing out the diverse makeup of their modern audience and the underlying political weight of their existence as working-class icons.

The documentary aims to debunk long-standing stereotypes about heavy metal, with Sam Dunn emphasizing the importance of songs like "Breaking the Law" as working-class anthems. Frontman Rob Halford also appears in the film, discussing how he has woven social and personal themes into his lyrics for decades. Produced by Banger Films and distributed by Sony Music Vision, the film serves as a definitive look at the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers who continue to break records as the first metal act to release studio albums—including 2024's Invincible Shield—spanning a half-century career.

As one of the definitive acts of the early 2000s, Papa Roach is weighing in on the tracks that shaped the nu-metal landscape. In a new video shared across their social channels, the band members individualy selected the songs they believe represent the genre's peak, with guitarist Jerry Horton and frontman Jacoby Shaddix both nodding to their own 6x Platinum staple, "Last Resort."

While Shaddix admitted his bias toward his own band's hit, he ultimately gave the crown to scenemates Limp Bizkit for their high-energy anthem "Break Stuff." Bassist Tobin Esperance reached back to the genre's beginnings, choosing Korn’s 1994 classic "Blind," noting that the song's legendary intro was unlike anything he had heard at the time.

Rounding out the picks, drummer Tony Palermo selected Deftones’ "My Own Summer (Shove It)." Despite the band's historical hesitation to be labeled as nu-metal, Palermo insisted the 1997 track is "up there" among the genre's greatest achievements. The picks arrive as Papa Roach continues to celebrate their own massive streaming success, with "Last Resort" recently joining Spotify's prestigious "Billion Club."

The wait for new Black Veil Brides music is nearly over. Following weeks of intense speculation and social media teasers, the band has confirmed that their latest single, "Vindicate," will officially drop on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

The track marks the second offering from the group this year, following the success of their January anthem "Certainty." Frontman Andy Biersack has previously noted that the band's upcoming seventh studio album explores themes of rigid belief systems and the "echo chambers" of modern discourse, and fans are eager to see how "Vindicate" fits into that overarching narrative.

Gary Holt is getting candid about the life of a professional thrasher. In a new interview with Moshville Times, the 61-year-old Exodus guitarist and Slayer member opened up about the financial landscape of heavy metal, stating plainly that while he hasn’t reached "rock star" wealth, he considers his career a "gift."

Holt, who joined Exodus at just 17, admitted that retirement isn't on the horizon because he simply "has to work"—but he emphasized that he loves the job too much to stop. He shared a striking perspective on the highs and lows of the industry, recalling the transition from playing massive reunion shows with Slayer to the "sketchy" backstage showers of small European venues with Exodus, noting that he finds joy in both extremes.

The interview also highlighted Holt’s eclectic musical palette. While his "jam until it sticks" songwriting approach remains rooted in thrash, he cited Prince as his ultimate hero and confessed a deep obsession with Adele. When he isn't listening to pop divas or sports talk radio, Holt says he still finds comfort in the same classic rock bands he loved in high school, such as Nazareth and Thin Lizzy.

While many in the creative arts are "flipping out" over the rise of Artificial Intelligence, Maynard James Keenan is taking a more skeptical, historical view. In a new conversation with azcentral.com regarding Puscifer’s latest release, Normal Isn't, the vocalist compared the current AI panic to the arrival of drum machines and cameras, stating that the idea of artists being "replaced" is not "legitimate."

Keenan argues that while the technology itself might not be the existential threat to creativity that some fear, the way it is being utilized is a different story. He expressed concern over the "bad ideas" behind AI, specifically pointing to the usage of bots and algorithms that are designed to "drive wedges" between people and cultivate social division. According to Keenan, these digital tools have spent the last 15 years fueling "absolute silly fights" and tribalism online.

Despite the "endless barrage of madness" he sees in the digital landscape, Keenan remains focused on the human element of his work. While he acknowledges that things may get "darker before it gets better," he believes the current technological and social friction will eventually hit a breaking point where a new balance must be found.

The rock world is in mourning today, Saturday, March 14, 2026, following the passing of legendary Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell. The Welsh musician, who served as the backbone of the band’s thunderous sound for 31 years, died peacefully last night at the age of 64. According to a heartbreaking statement released by his family and his band, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Campbell passed away in intensive care following a "complex major operation."

Campbell joined Motörhead in 1984 and remained the group's longest-serving member alongside Lemmy Kilmister, appearing on every studio album from Orgasmatron to their final 2015 release, Bad Magic. Known affectionately as "Bampi" by his family, Phil continued his musical legacy after Motörhead’s dissolution by forming a new group with his three sons—Todd, Dane, and Tyla—releasing several acclaimed albums and touring the globe.

Tributes have begun pouring in from across the heavy metal community. Longtime bandmate and drummer Mikkey Dee shared an emotional message, calling Campbell "the funniest guy I have ever known and the best rock guitar player I have ever played with," while Doro Pesch and Dee Snider also expressed their deep sadness. Phil’s passing marks the end of an era for the Motörhead family, but his riffs and his "gift of guitar" will remain an permanent part of rock history.

Linkin Park has hit another massive digital landmark as their 2007 hit "Bleed It Out" officially crossed 900 million streams on Spotify. The track, known for its iconic infectious clap-track and the seamless dynamic between Mike Shinoda’s rap verses and Chester Bennington’s raw vocals, remains one of the most enduring anthems in the band's catalog.

Originally released as the second single from their third studio album, Minutes to Midnight, "Bleed It Out" has long been a staple of the band’s live sets and rock radio. Its continued popularity underscores the timeless appeal of Linkin Park’s genre-blurring sound, even nearly two decades after its initial release.

With this latest achievement, "Bleed It Out" joins an elite group of the band's tracks—including "In the End" and "Numb"—closing in on the prestigious "Billion Club" on the streaming platform. As the band's legacy continues to grow with a new generation of listeners, it’s only a matter of time before this high-energy staple hits the ten-figure mark.

Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner has revealed the intensive dedication required to keep him on stage as the band continues their massive world tour. In a new interview, Faulkner shared that even five years after suffering a life-threatening acute aortic aneurysm on stage, he still undergoes physical therapy three times a day while on the road.

Faulkner, who famously completed a 2021 performance while his heart was failing, has become a symbol of resilience in the rock community. He explained that the physical demands of a high-energy metal show require constant maintenance to manage the long-term effects of his emergency heart surgeries. "It’s a different lifestyle now," Faulkner noted, emphasizing that the routine is necessary to ensure he can perform at the level fans expect from the "Metal Gods."

Despite the rigorous medical upkeep, Faulkner’s playing remains as sharp as ever. He is currently touring in support of Judas Priest's acclaimed latest album, Invincible Shield, while also managing his new project, Elegant Weapons. His openness about his health journey continues to inspire fans and fellow musicians navigating their own recoveries.

Ghost has premiered the 25th installment of its lore-heavy web series today, Friday, March 13, 2026. The new episode finds Frater Imperator (the artist formerly known as Cardinal Copia) attempting to slip away for some peace and quiet, but the Clergy’s transition into "downtime" has proven to be a total wreck.

In the episode's most talked-about moment, the Imperator’s vacation plans are effectively sideswiped, leaving the character looking like he was hit by a truck. The physical and metaphorical wreckage has sent fans into a frenzy, with many speculating if this brutal "accident" is the catalyst needed to finally usher in the next incarnation of the band's leadership.

While Tobias Forge remains on a family-focused hiatus from touring, the band’s digital narrative shows no signs of slowing down.
