BLACKPINK And Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica’ Collaboration ‘Sour Candy’ Has Been Certified Gold In The US

K-pop supergroup BLACKPINK has officially earned its second-ever US gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. The group has been awarded the certification for “Sour Candy,” its 2020 collaboration with Lady Gaga which appeared on her album Chromatica.

BLACKPINK received its first gold certification, which is awarded for the sale of 500,000 equivalent units, for the BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA single “Ddu-du Ddu-du” which reached No.1 on Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart and has surpassed 1.6 billion views on YouTube.

“Sour Candy” was originally shared as a promotional single from Chromatica. The song reached No.33 on the Billboard Hot 100 following its release and became the group’s first single to reach the top 40 of the chart. It marks one of BLACKPINK’s biggest collaborations to date, joining the ranks of “Ice Cream” which featured Selena Gomez and appeared on the group’s debut THE ALBUM.

THE ALBUM itself debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The project became the highest-charting female Korean album and the highest-charting album by an all-female group since Danity Kane released their album Welcome to the Dollhouse in 2008. BLACKPINK is the only Korean girl group to have received certification honors from the RIAA.

Lady Gaga recently shared Dawn of Chromatica, a complete remix album helmed by Bloodpop. The project featured a remix of “Sour Candy” executed by Shygirl and Mura Masa.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s Lisa is approaching the release date for her solo debut LALISA. The two-track project will feature songs “LALISA” and “Money” created with frequent BLACKPINK collaborator Teddy Park and Bekuh BOOM. The project arrives on September 10.

Lisa’s solo debut follows that of her fellow group members Rosé and Jennie. Following the release of LALISA, Jisoo will be the only BLACKPINK member to not have shared any solo material.
