Breaking Benjamin is one of the most influential bands in post-grunge, and they’re still going strong today. They may have debuted a bit later than some of the early post-grunge bands, but they are definitely part of the second wave of grunge music. They broke onto the scene just a few years after groups like Shinedown, Creed, and Nickelback, and they’ve made a significant impact on the genre.
Today, Breaking Benjamin is still touring and creating new music. They recently co-headlined a show with Three Days Grace in September. The band is promoting their latest release, a 2020 compilation album where they reimagined some of their classic tracks.
When it comes to new music, lead singer Ben Burnley shared that they have a lot recorded. He mentioned, “We do have a lot recorded, but it’s not done until it’s done.” While he confirmed that the recording is mostly complete, he didn’t provide a specific release date.
Burnley also revealed that Nirvana was the band that inspired him to pick up an instrument. He recalled, “That was the band that made me want to do this.”
In addition to music, Burnley is working on his own recording studio. He plans to use it not just for his projects but also to produce and collaborate with other bands. He said, “It’s for me to be on the other side, not a performer, but producing and putting bands together.”
He also mentioned that the studio will double as a video game development space. So, fans can look forward to new music from Breaking Benjamin, and it seems Burnley is ready to help other artists as well!
