Brian Burkheiser Unveils Scatterbrain Solo Project Featuring Taylor Swift Cover

Brian Burkheiser has released a new version of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” on December 1. This song is part of Scatterbrain, his new solo project, and it’s his first release since leaving I Prevail in May.

In a statement, Burkheiser shared, “This year forced me to pivot in ways I never expected, and it tested me more than I can explain. But through it all, your support has meant everything.” He chose this song because it resonates with him and reminds him of what started his career. Back in 2014, I Prevail gained attention with their cover of Swift’s “Blank Space.”

Burkheiser and I Prevail announced their mutual parting in May. Eric Vanlerberghe now takes on most of the vocals, with guitarist Dylan Bowman also contributing. In June, Burkheiser clarified that there was “no beef” with his former bandmates, saying, “I love every single one of those guys whether they know it or not.” However, he felt he “didn’t deserve how things went down.”

Looking ahead, Burkheiser said, “I’m still working toward the day I can release my original music.” He is excited about Scatterbrain, which will blend rock, hip-hop, and pop while focusing on mental health. Meanwhile, I Prevail released their fourth album, Violent Nature, in September.

Fans can look forward to more from Burkheiser as he continues to share his music and experiences.
