Brian May has announced that a remixed and remastered box set of Queen II will be released on March 27. He shared the news on Instagram on February 3, giving fans a sneak peek of what to expect.
In his post, May said, “Just preparing to do this unboxing video, which you will see pretty soon. The unboxing, of course, of this beautiful, beautiful rebuild of Queen II. Watch this space!”
He added more excitement in the caption, writing, “YEEEEOW!!! The beautiful new BOX SET of the perfectly rebuilt Queen II album has arrived!! Watch out for unboxing!!! Released 27th March — watch out for presale announcement! Proud!! Bri.”
Queen II originally came out in March 1974. It was distributed by EMI Records in the UK and Elektra Records in the US. May recorded the album with his bandmates Roger Taylor, Freddie Mercury, and John Deacon. Critics have praised the 1974 release for its unique sound, with tracks like “Ogre Battle” highlighting its heavier style.
This isn’t the first time May and Taylor have revisited a classic. Two years ago, they released a remixed and remastered version of their debut album, Queen I.
May promised fans that presale details will be available soon. He will also share an unboxing video to show what’s included in the new box set. Fans should stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!
