The Obama Foundation has officially unveiled a powerhouse musical lineup consisting of “global icons” to celebrate the grand opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center. Set to take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the highly anticipated dedication ceremony will officially kick off a weekend of grand opening festivities spanning the Juneteenth holiday weekend from June 19th through June 21st.
Rock legends Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder are among the stellar list of confirmed performers taking the stage for the event. The multi-genre celebration will also feature world-class appearances from Bono and The Edge of U2, Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Marc Anthony, Common, The Roots, Tems, and actress Marsai Martin. Designed to be a direct celebration of the core community values that shaped the Obama presidency, the star-studded ceremony will be broadcast live online for global audiences starting at 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. PT.
The sprawling, 19-acre cultural campus is located on Chicago’s South Side and breaks from the traditional presidential library model. The public grounds feature an athletic center, a local Chicago Public Library branch, community gathering spaces, a playground, a sledding hill, and a fully interactive ticketed museum. Notably absent from the guest list is Donald Trump, who previously criticized the $850 million project on social media. Despite the past criticism, representatives for the Obama Foundation publicly stated that Trump remains “welcome” to visit and tour the expansive grounds at any time.
