Bruce Springsteen: Details About His Upcoming ‘Tonight Show’ Takeover

Bruce Springsteen has a big week ahead of him following the release of his soul covers album Only The Strong Survive on Friday (November 11.) The Boss will be heading to 30 Rock for a takeover of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Per NBC, Springsteen will appear on The Tonight Show November 14-16 and on the talk show’s Thanksgiving special on November 24. He will perform on all four episodes and be the lead guest on the November 14-16 shows. (Side note: Fingers crossed for another comedic moment like the duet from 2014 about then-Gov. Chris Christie’s bridge scandal.)

While Springsteen has made previous appearances on Fallon’s Tonight Show, this is the first time the music icon has done a “takeover” of the show. Previous “takeovers” have featured pop stars Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, BTS, Miley Cyrus and the one and only Cher.

Only The Strong Survive is currently available for pre-order here. Springsteen said in a statement on the LP, “I wanted to make an album where I just sang. And what better music to work with than the great American songbook of the Sixties and Seventies?”

He added, “I’ve taken my inspiration from Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Jimmy Ruffin, the Iceman Jerry Butler, Diana Ross, Dobie Gray, and Scott Walker, among many others. I’ve tried to do justice to them all—and to the fabulous writers of this glorious music. My goal is for the modern audience to experience its beauty and joy, just as I have since I first heard it. I hope you love listening to it as much as I loved making it.”
