Bruce Springsteen: ‘We’ll Be Touring Next Year If Everything Goes Well’

Bruce Springsteen is hopeful about hitting the road with the E Street Band in 2022.

The Boss said in an interview with BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball (as transcribed by NME), “We’ll be touring next year if everything goes well. The E Street Band will be back on the road – you know, depending, of course, on the virus and what’s opening up.”

A similar sentiment was express by E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt who said in an appearance on the Talking Sopranos podcast back in May, “I think probably 2022. That’s what it feels like right now. 2021 is still a little up in the air with this new South African variant and all of this stupid s—.”

Van Zandt added, “It’s a little hard to predict what the hell is going to happen here [in the United States.] So I think 2022, I hope, is a safer bet.”

Currently, Springsteen is busy with the current limited run of his hit show Springsteen on Broadway at Jujamcyn’s St. James Theatre through September 4. The first run of Springsteen on Broadway was initially supposed to be an eight-week limited engagement at the Walter Kerr Theatre, but due to its success, it ended up lasting for 236 shows. The show resulted in Springsteen receiving a Special Tony Award at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards in 2018. Springsteen on Broadway was later brought to the masses via an exclusive special on Netflix.
