Calum Scott Receives BRIT Billion Award

Calum Scott is now part of an illustrious club. The singer-songwriter has received a BRIT Billion Award, an honor from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) bestowed upon artists whose catalog has accumulated more than one billion streams in the UK alone. His mother, Debbie Scott, presented him with the award at Universal Music Group’s London headquarters in a surprise ceremony Monday.

“It’s an absolute honour to receive the BRIT Billion Award,” Scott said in a statement. “To be recognised and sit alongside such incredible artists that I grew up listening to feels very surreal – to have it presented by my mum, who has been the biggest supporter in my career, made it even more special. I’m so grateful to all my fans and everyone who has been with me since the beginning and I’m excited to see everyone on tour later this year.”

Scott is in good company. Fewer than 50 artists have been honored with the BRIT Billion Award since its launch in 2023. Their number includes current stars like Lewis Capaldi, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo as well as legacy acts such as Queen, Whitney Houston, and the Rolling Stones. A gold version of the award, recognizing 10 billion UK streams, was first won by Ed Sheeran in 2023.

Scott emerged a decade ago as a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent, where he earned Simon Cowell’s attention with a cover of “Dancing on My Own” that turned the Robyn hit into a piano-led ballad. He went on to record “Dancing On My Own,” which stands as his biggest streaming hit to date. In the UK, the song has racked up 330 million streams, followed by “You Are The Reason” with 260 million.

Scott is getting ready to watch those numbers swell way past a billion with the release of new album Avenoir on Sept. 12. He’ll be taking the album on tour across the UK and Europe this fall, with North American shows to follow in 2026.

Order Calum Scott’s album Avenoir now.
