Can’t Stop Justin Timberlake in Philly

Justin Timberlake brought the final show of the first leg of his North American “Man of the Woods” tour to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia Saturday night.

Opening for and discoverd by Timberlake was the “Shadowboxers”.  Members Scott Tyler, Matt Lipkins and Adam Hoffman originally created buzz with their YouTube cover of Timberlake’s “Pusher Love Girl,” the trio have since garnered over 4.5 million streams of original material on Spotify and Apple Music to date and growing.  Spending time writing in the studio with both Timberlake, The Shadowboxers released Apollo EP lead single “HOT DAMN!” in September 2017, and since then have performed on national television shows such as TODAY and The Talk as well as completed a set of national headlining tour dates.

Timberlake’s stage, was decorated with trees that snaked through the entire floor of the arena with a circular stage in the center.  At times, it was converted even more into a wooded playground by projecting images of a forest, “growing” grass and a real camp fire.  This “wooded area” wasn’t complete without a modern laser light show, a dance floor straight out of Saturday Night Fever and a full bar!

Justin who had injured his knee during a previous show, gutted out this final stop by starting with the dubstep wobbly song “Filthy” the first single off of the “Man of the Woods”  album. The two hour 27 song setlist covered his entire catalog including LoveStoned, SexyBack, Senorita and Rock Your Body to name a few.  He also performed some covers by the real campfire with the help of his dancers.  On of the highlights, for us at least, was the mashup of “Summer Love” with “Grindin” by Clipse.  JT closed the show with  “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” the feel good hit song that was a part of the soundtrack to “Trolls.”
