Nearly 20 years ago, Chris Daughtry performed Seether’s song “Broken” on American Idol. Now, his band Daughtry is hitting the road with Seether for a co-headlining tour, starting Wednesday in Virginia Beach, Virginia. “I grew up listening to Seether, and I covered them on Idol,” Chris said. “This is a cool full-circle moment.”
Daughtry will promote their new EP, Shock to the System (Part 2), during the tour. Chris is excited to share fresh material. “I always want to play the newer stuff, even if it annoys some fans,” he joked. “I’m really excited about the new music.”
While they will include some older hits, Chris promises a setlist packed with new songs. Shock to the System (Part 2) follows last year’s Part 1 and features tracks that Chris describes as the B-sides to the singles from Part 1. This allowed him to explore different sounds. “I think this second half has more of my grunge influences,” he said.
Chris also got personal with the lyrics on Part 2, especially in the closing track, “Antidote.” “I felt like ‘Antidote’ was so important, and it had to be the last song,” he explained. “I wanted listeners to sit with it and feel whatever they feel without jumping into something that changes the mood.”
Fans can look forward to an exciting mix of new and classic songs on this tour!
