Over the weekend, the internet buzzed about a Coldplay concert that took place last Wednesday (July 16). The excitement wasn’t just about the band’s amazing performance. It all started when two audience members were caught on the “Kiss Cam” and were allegedly cheating on their spouses. Fans quickly identified them as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR head Kristin Cabot.
During a concert on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, Chris Martin had some fun with the situation. He joked with the crowd, saying, “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd and put some of you on the big screen. How we’re going to do that is we’re going to use our cameras.” He added with a laugh, “Please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
When the camera caught Byron and Cabot during the Wednesday show, Martin quipped, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” Realizing the implications, he added, “Hope we didn’t do something wrong.” Later, when the camera focused on another couple, he joked, “OK, now listen, are you two a couple? Are you two a legitimate couple?”
After the incident, things escalated quickly. Byron and Cabot were put on leave, and reports now say Byron has resigned. The tech company announced, “Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted.” They are now searching for a new CEO while Pete DeJoy serves as interim CEO. Meanwhile, Cabot’s future at Astronomer remains uncertain, as she is reportedly married to another CEO, Andrew Cabot.
