The actor will star as Alex Murphy in an eight-episode adaptation from Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
Dan Stevens has been cast to star as Alex Murphy and his cyborg alter ego in an upcoming RoboCop series at Prime Video. Based on the MGM film franchise, the eight-episode show was greenlit by Amazon MGM Studios nearly a month before Stevens’ casting. The character was originally played by Peter Weller in Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 film.
Peter Ocko serves as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the series. Original film co-creators Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner will executive produce alongside James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. According to the official logline, the story follows a giant tech conglomerate that convinces a city to place a robot implanted with the consciousness of a fallen officer onto its police force.
