Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl recently opened up about the band’s decision to part ways with drummer Josh Freese in 2025. In a new interview, Grohl shared that the choice felt right for the band. He explained, “A drummer’s playing is based on feel. It’s hard to define when it feels ‘right’ or ‘really good,’ and then there’s that moment when it feels ‘f amazing.'”
Grohl emphasized the importance of connection and rhythm between band members, comparing it to a recipe that needs the right balance of ingredients. He mentioned British chef Marco Pierre White, who often talks about how cooking is all about feeling. Grohl said, “If he knows, then it must be good. So we know what feels best for our band.”
In addition to discussing the band’s lineup changes, Grohl touched on the political climate in America. He expressed concern about the division and injustice in the country, saying, “It’s hard not to feel political living in America.” He added, “I try to love everyone, because I think that’s what you’re supposed to do. But there needs to be change, and it’s been hard to find.”
The Foo Fighters are set to release their new album, Your Favorite Toy, featuring drummer Ilan Rubin, on April 24.
