The Megadeth founder’s book details his seven-year battle with cancer and the band’s chart-topping self-titled album.
Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine is scheduled to speak at the Kaufman Music Center in New York on Sept. 8 to promote his new memoir, In My Darkest Hour. Co-written with Joe Layden and published by Da Capo, the book reflects on Mustaine’s seven-year journey through cancer treatment and remission, as well as the making of the band’s self-titled album—what Megadeth has called their final studio record and their first to reach No. 1 on the U.S. charts.
Co-produced by Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, the self-titled project followed 2022’s The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! and features the track “The Last Note.” Tickets to the New York event include a pre-signed copy of the memoir, though organizers noted there will be no post-event photo opportunities or book signings.
