Deftones played four songs from their new album, “Private Music,” at the sixth annual Dia de los Deftones festival on November 1 at San Diego’s Petco Park. This was the first time fans heard these tracks live. The band delivered an impressive 21-song set, featuring the debuts of “Locked Club,” “Souvenir,” “Cut Hands,” and “I Think About You All the Time.” They also brought back “Street Carp” from their 2000 album, “White Pony,” for the first time since 2019.
The show kicked off with “My Mind Is a Mountain” before diving into the live debut of “Locked Club.” Fans enjoyed classic hits like “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away),” “My Own Summer (Shove It),” and “Change (In the House of Flies).” The festival also featured performances from Clipse, 2hollis, Deafheaven, Rico Nasty, and Glare. Deftones have hosted this event every year since it started, carefully selecting acts to perform before their set.
The main set wrapped up with “Milk of the Madonna,” but the night wasn’t over. The band returned for a three-song encore, starting with “I Think About You All the Time,” marking its first live performance. They closed the night with “Engine No. 9” and “7 Words.”
Fans shared footage from the show online, capturing the excitement of the new songs and the energy of the crowd. Previous Dia de los Deftones festivals have also mixed popular tracks with rarities and new material, making each event special. Petco Park, home to the San Diego Padres, has hosted the festival since its inception, accommodating tens of thousands of fans. Keep an eye out for tickets to Deftones’ upcoming shows!
