Dinosaur Jr. has announced a new album called There Near. It is their 13th full-length record. The album is due out Aug. 28. It follows 2021’s Sweep It into Space.
Frontman J Mascis says the album can sound upbeat, but he writes in the third person and calls much of it make-believe. He points out lyrics like “No Friends” that might tell a different story.
The first single, “Several Got Away,” is out now. Dinosaur Jr. will join Band of Horses for a U.S. tour starting July 10 in Kingston, New York. They will begin a fall headlining tour in October.
