Disturbed has announced the cancellation of their concert in Brussels, Belgium, which was set for Wednesday. The decision comes after police raised concerns about security risks linked to frontman David Draiman’s support for Israel.
Charles Spapens, the mayor of Forest, where the concert was to take place, stated, “My responsibility and priority are the safety of residents, neighbors, demonstrators, spectators, and staff at Forest National.” He emphasized that the police’s advice and the venue’s location influenced his decision.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Disturbed expressed their disappointment. They wrote, “Music is where all our differences fade into the background.” The band highlighted the unifying power of music, saying, “It has the power to heal, to inspire, and to bring people together. It’s not about what divides us.”
Disturbed reassured fans that their concerts are a space for everyone, regardless of beliefs. “Everyone who comes to a Disturbed concert is accepted and loved,” they said. The band added that they are saddened that their fans in Belgium will miss out on this musical celebration.
