Drake Now Has The Most Diamond Certifications Of Any Artist, Ever

Drake is officially the most Diamond-certified artist of all time.

The RIAA confirmed the news on May 28th, revealing that earlier this week the Toronto rapper earned his ninth and 10th Diamond plaques for 2009’s “Best I Ever Had” and 2013’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” respectively. The two new certifications join his other Diamond records: “God’s Plan” (2018), “One Dance” (2016), “Hotline Bling” (2016), “Sicko Mode” with Travis Scott (2018), “Life Is Good” with Future (2020), “Work” with Rihanna (2016), “Love Me” with Lil Wayne (2013), and “No Guidance” with Chris Brown (2019).

The tenth plaque pushed Drake ahead in a three-way tie with Garth Brooks and Post Malone, who both have nine Diamond certifications each (perhaps reflective of the generations they hail from, Brooks’ certifications are all for albums, Post Malone’s for an array of singles and features.) Until 2023, the record was held by Bruno Mars.

Drake might also soon have an opportunity to extend his lead—2018’s “Nice For What,” the second single off the rapper’s fifth studio album Scorpion, currently sits at 9x Platinum-certified. He also has multiple tracks that have gone 8x Platinum: they include “In My Feelings;” “F*ckin Problems” with 2Chainz, A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar; “Headlines”; and his 2016 album Views (which featured two of his Diamond tracks, “One Dance” and “Hotline Bling.”)

Not one to rest on the success of earlier records, Drake released his most recent album, the joint record $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with longtime collaborator Partynextdoor, in February. Two tracks from that album, “Nokia” and “Somebody Loves Me,” remain on the Billboard Hot 100. Later this summer, he’ll headline three nights of London’s Wireless Festival, set to run July 11th through 13th at Finsbury Park.
