Frontman Wil Martin says the late singer’s passing prompted deep reflections on mental health that shaped the band’s new track.
Earshot released their new single “Love Left” alongside an accompanying music video on Tuesday, Aug. 25, via Judge & Jury Records. The track was produced by label co-founders Howard Benson and Neil Sanderson. Frontman Wil Martin stated that the song was sparked by the 2017 death of Chris Cornell, which led him to confront his own mental health struggles and anxiety. Martin explained that the track focuses on holding onto hope and finding an inner spark during dark times, while pushing back against cultural pressures to maintain constant perfection.
The accompanying music video visually represents this theme, featuring a glowing light bulb inside a crumbling setting. Originally formed in Los Angeles in 1999, Earshot is set to play at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, on Sept. 18, before concluding their upcoming run of shows on Oct. 5 at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California.
