Eddie Vedder dropped some major news related to his new solo LP Earthling.
To begin with, Vedder dropped the beautiful track “Brother the Cloud.” While it hasn’t been confirmed the track is about Chris Cornell, it’s not unreasonable to deduce it is just from the first verse and chorus:
“I had a brother
But now my brother is gone
I search the sky for a
Glimpse of his blue eyes
And there I find
His image in the clouds
If I could wish, wish it away
I would bleed out my knees and pray
If I could give, all that I have
To bring him back today
These are but dreams
As sad as it seems
I’m always wide awake”
On top of his new song, Vedder also revealed that in addition to his backing band of Andrew Watt, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer appearing on Earthling, he also had three music legends on the album, too: Elton John, Ringo Starr and Stevie Wonder.
Late last year, Vedder announced his new solo album, Earthling, is slated for release on February 11. The album is currently available for pre-order in CD, vinyl and cassette formats. Earthling, produced by Watt, is Vedder’s first solo album since the release of 2011’s Ukulele Songs.
